Tom is a 30-year veteran in direct marketing. He began his career in direct response insurance, where he led the direct mail division of National Liberty Corporation for five years. After 10 years in direct response marketing, Tom began International Marketing Group (IMG) in 1978 in the Washington, D.C. area. IMG was a direct response fundraising and research firm, serving many nonprofits across America. Then he merged IMG with Development Resources Inc. in Dallas as a co-founder of the KMA Companies in 1984.

Tom and his associates have worked as direct response marketing, fundraising, and communications consultants for groups such as The Salvation Army, Arthritis Foundation, World Vision, Navigators, Trans World Radio, Union Rescue Mission (Los Angeles), Union Gospel Mission (Seattle), SIM, Knox Area Rescue Ministries (Knoxville, TN), ServiceMaster, American Bible Society, Children's Medical Center (Dallas), and Moody Magazine, among many others.

Tom is a Board member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), of which he served as chairman from 1992 to 1995. He is a Board member of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and the Association of Direct Response Fund Raising Counsel (ADRFCO) where he presently serves as Chairman. He is a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives, Christian Stewardship Association, Council for National Policy, and KMA is a member of the Founders Council of the Christian Management Association. Tom received his BA from Shelton College and earned his MBA at Syracuse University.

Tom is married and has three children. He is an elder in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
